From Thomaston northwest on Highway 74 to Rock Rd (just before county line), then south (left) on Dripping Rock Rd. Cemetery is at the end. Family tradition has it that there are unmarked graves back behind the current cemetery where the woods have grown up on what is now Boy Scout property --Camp Thunder. I am told that there are slave graves in there too. MELTON June Melton died at his home near Thunder Tuesday after an illness of nine days. His remains were intered at Riggins Cemetery Wednesday. Melton was 33 years of age and is survived by his mother, six brothers and two sisters. Note: Mrs. Eva Melton is the daughter of Joshaway Riggins. Alford Riggins had 13 children, Mary Ann Elizabeth who married I.H.B. Melton, Tullie (who never married), James William who married Dollie Melton, Georgia Ann who married Tom Ledford, Alice who married Julius Caesar Wright, Ida Ophelia who married Willis F. Melton, Ernest T. who married Lena Cox, Joshua who married Lou Melton, Reuben who married Betty Pearl Huckaby, Ada (my grandmother) who married Robert Edgar Gilbert, Thomas who married Minnie Riggins , Eva who married Grover Newman and Eve who married Rob Justice. Note: Winford was the daughter of Winford and Bashie Braswell Alford , descendants of Lodwick Alford who was in the North Carolina House of Reps in 1776. Alfords are buried in the Alford Cemetery on Dripping Rock Road , behind a house still in the Alford family. Winford had two children by her first marriage, great -granddaddy and his sister, Lucidie (Dicy). Within three years of his birth , his father died and his m other married his uncle, (his father's brother), Joshua H. Riggins. By her second marriage she had 12 more children, Brittian, Sarah Elizabeth who married John G. Brown, Mary Ann who married Robert Brown, Dilithe (Aunt Lithe who married Bud Ledford)and Delpha(stillborn) (Twins), Winford, Recy who married John H. Owens Jr., . Joshua who married Adel Melton and Julie Ann Melton, William C. (Fiddler Bill), Thomas, Queen Victory(stillborn) and Bashaba Jane. Issac Newton Wright, father of Bun Wright,, who always played the fiddle for President Roosevelt is buried here too. He was Alice's father in law. ( whose fiddle is in the museum in Warm Springs) Georgia Ann died in the Florida Yellow Fever Epidemic in 1898. Reuben and his wife are buried in the Molena Cemetery Eve Justice is buried at Mt. Olive in Molena. Ada and Rob Gilbert are buried in Hillview East Cemetery in LaGrange
