Petition of Mrs. M.E. Buchanan to bound out child  1866
to William Respess
Georgia, Upson Co. Aug. 13, 1866
     The Ordinary of Said County

The petition of Mrs. Martha E. Buchanan, formerly
Martha E. Caraway showeth that during the lifetime
of her former husband John P. Caraway, she became
the Mother of several children, among them is one by
the name of John W. Caraway, a boy about TEN years
of age-  that she is in indigent circumstances &
unable to maintain & educate her Said children,
being entirely  destitute of the means so to do;
Wherefore your petitioner prays that this said John
W. Caraway may be bound as an apprentice to William
Respess of said County for the term of ten years or
until the said John W. shall arrive at the age of
twenty years to learn the trade or occupation of
husbandry and house service.
