1893 Indenture- Robert J. McHargue & Harriett F. Johnson

Georgia, Upson County     Indenture of Apprenticeship

Recorded in Book H page 291   April 13, 1893  J. C. Williams, Ordinary

This Indenture made and entered into this the 14th
Day of March 1893 between Robert J. McHargue and
Harriett F. Johnson, the mother of Carrie Belle
Johnson now aged Three years, all of said County,
Witnesses; that the said Harriett hereby binds, and
apprentices to the said Robert the said Carrie,
until the said Carrie is twenty one years old, upon
the following terms; Said Robert agrees to take into
his custody said Carrie; teach her household duties;
furnish her with protection, wholesome food,
suitable clothing, necessary medicine, and medical
attendance, teach her habits of industry, honesty
and morality, cause her to be taught the Elementary
principals of mathematics and to read English, and
shall govern her with humanity using only the same
degree of force to compel her obedience as a father
may use with his minor child.  In consideration of
all of which said Robert is to be entitled to the
services and earnings of the said Carrie until she
is twenty-one years old.

Witness our hands and seals this the 14 th day of
March 1893.
