State of Georgia, 
Upson County.
This Indenture witnesseth that Milly Josey, A free
person and minor about thirteen years of age, by and
with the consent of William A. Cobb, Ordinary of
said County, hath put herself & by these presents
doth voluntarily offer  her own free will and
accord, put herself apprentice to Stephens White,
free man of said County, to learn the act of
Seamstress and the duties of housekeeping- to serve
the said Stephen White from the date here of until
she shall have attained to the age of twenty-one, or
have married, & obey all lawful & proper commands &
conduct herself  in a virtuous and  becoming manner.
And the said Stephen White shall  cause the said
apprentice to be instructed in reading & writing the
English language, & in the principal rules of
arithmetic; shall not misuse or ill-treat said
apprentice himself, nor permit it to be done by
others; shall use the instruct of his endeavor t! o
teach, or cause to be taught or instructed the said
apprentice in the act & duties of seamstress &
housekeeper, and procedure & provide for her
sufficient meat, drink, clothing, lodging & washing,
and attendance in sickness, fitting for an
apprentice during the tenor of her indenture. And
for the  true performance of all and singular the
covenants aforesaid, the parties bind themselves
each unto the other firmly by these presents. 

In
witness whereof the parties have interchangeably set
their hands and seals here unto this Seventh day of
May, 1866 Signed, sealed 7 delivered in the presence
of  William A. Cobb. Ordinary
