Sam Ward & Josephine Ward VS. Ned Ogletree & Alberta Ogletree Recorded in Minutes J page 229. March 21, 1904. J. E. F. Matthews, Ordinary. Filed in Office, March 21, 1904 J.E.F. Matthews Ordinary Georgia, Upson County. This indenture, Made this the 21st day of March, 1904 between J. E. F. Matthews, Ordinary of said County, for and in behalf of Ned and Alberta Ogletree, being of the ages of 7 and 5 years, of the one part, and Sam Ward, Josephine Ward, of the County aforesaid of the other part: WITNESSETH, that the said J. E. F. Matthews, Ordinary as aforesaid, does by the presents bind out said minor children, of said County, as Apprentice, to said Sam and Josephine Ward, in the trade or craft of Farmer and House Keeper, or laborer, upon the plantation of the said Sam & Josephine Ward as Apprentices from the date hereof, for and during the term of their minority and until they become 21 years of age. During all which time, said J. E. F. Matthews, Ordinary as aforesaid, doth covenant with the said Sam & Josephine Ward that the said minor children shall well and faithfully demean themselves as such faithful Apprentices to the said Sam & Josephine Ward, neither revealing their secrets, nor at any time neglecting or leaving the business of the said Sam & Josephine Ward. And for and in consideration of the service well and faithfully rendered by the said Ned Ogletree & Alberta Ogletree, of the first part, said parties of the second part, doth covenant, promise and agree to instruct them said apprentice, or otherwise cause them to be well and faithfully instructed in the said trade or craft of Farmer & housekeeper, or laborer, and also to read the English language; and shall also allow, furnish and provide them said Apprentice, with meat and drink and clothing during the said term, and all other necessaries meet and proper in sickness and in health; and shall also, at the expiration of the said term, allow and pay the said Apprentice what is now allowed by the statue in such case made and provided.
