And we also set apart the following household furniture for the use of said widow penciled in- All the household and Kitchen Furniture she has in her house. Matthews, Ordinary Next Page Petition for 12 months Support Georgia, Upson County To the Honorable Court of Ordinary of Said County: The petition of Emaline Ruffin respectfully showeth that Daniel Ruffin, Late of said County, departed his life on the ___ day of October, 1897, leaving your petitioner, his widow, and (struck through) surviving him, and she prays your Honorable Court in Conformity with the Statue in such case made and provided, to appoint five discreet and proper persons to act as appraisers in setting apart to your petitioner and (struck through), as aforesaid, the sum necessary in their judgment for support and maintenance for the space of 12 months from the death of said HUSBAND of your petitioner (and children ( struck through), either in money or such property as may be selected by your petitioner at a fair valuation to me made by the appraisers; and also to set apart a sufficient amount of household furniture for these of your petitioner, and further, to require said appraisers to return for record their proceedings. Upon the foregoing application of Emmaline Ruffin, the widow of David Ruffin, deceased, for the appointment of appraisers to set apart to said widow a sum necessary for their/her support and maintenance for the space of 12 months, out of the Estate of Said DAVID RUFFIN, deceased, also to set apart for the use of widow sufficient amount of household furniture, it is ordered that E. Mormand, R. Jackson, W.A. David, G. T. Mitchell and Abe Baugh-be and they are hereby appointed appraisers, and they, or a majority of them, are hereby empowered to set off and assign to the said Emmaline Ruffin, widow of said Daniel Ruffin, deceased, late of this County..... etc....
