To all and singular the SHERIFFS, Constables and Coroners of the said State-- Greeting: Whereas, at the NOVEMBER term, 1856, of the Superior Court of said County, the Grand Jurors did find a BILL of Indictment True against Barney, a Slave, the property of Urban C. Tigner for the offense of Arson You, and each of you, are therefore commanded, in the name of the State, to apprehend the said Slave Barney. and bring him before me, or some Justice of the Peace, to be dealt with as the law directs; and to make diligent search for all & singular, the estate, both real & personal, of said Defendant, or so much thereof as will be sufficient for the payment of all legal costs and expenses that may be incurred. Moore Alexander Trion John Pearson Eustace Reeves Richard A. Ford William Marens in the name and behalf of the citizens of Ga. charge and accuse Barney, a slave, the property of Urban C. Tigner, of the County of Talbot in the said State with the offense of Arson. For that the said Barney, a slave, as aforesaid in the County and State first aforesaid on the 22nd day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Six did in the night-time with force and arms willfully, maliciously and feloniously set fire to and burn a certain stone house, then and there the property and in the possession of one, James Adams, the said Stone-House then and there being and situated on the premises of the said James Adams in the County first aforesaid at and near a certain place in said County known as Adams Bridge- The said stone house not then and there being in a city town or village and not then and there occupied by any means a dwelling house a sleeping apartment, contrary to the laws of said State, the good under peace and argnity thereof and the jurors aforesaid in the name and behalf of the citizens of GA. further charge and accuse the slave Barney the aforesaid property as of one Urban C. Tig! ner of the County of Talbot in said state with having committed the offense of Arson. For that the said Slave Barney on the twenty second day of Aug in the year of Our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Six with force and arms willfully maliciously and feloniously did in the County of Upson and State aforesaid in the night time set fire to and burn an OUT house. The out-house being then and there the stone-house of one James Adams in the said county of Upson. The said stone house not then & there being in a city town or village.
