Upson County Georgia Deeds Lydia Ivy - Ephriam Ivy File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Barbara Walker Winge, Table of Contents page: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/upson.htm Georgia Table of Contents: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm Upson County, Georgia, Deed Book D Georgia }} Upson County }} Articles of an agreement between Lydia Ivy of the County of Upson and State aforesaid of the one part and Ephriam Ivy [her son] of the Same County and State of the other part - which articles are conditions as follows [viz] first the Said Lydia [Mother of the Said Ephriam] doth agree and put into lawful possession into the hand of the Ephriam Ivy [her son] the following named negroes for his own proper use benefit and behoof during the natural lifetime of the Said Lydia Ivy [his mother] vix Dick a fellow, Eady a woman; Rebecca a girl, Fanny, do a girl, and Tony a boy all of which above named negroes, Said Ephriam is to take charge of, have and use in every respect as though they were his own property during the lifetime of the Said Lydia Ivey [his mother] and no longer unless it be by a special contract hereafter made - and the Said Ephriam [her son] doth agree and bind himself to take charge of Said above named negroes treat them as his own, feed and clothe them, pay their taxes, and Physician bills, etc - and he the Said Ephriam further agrees to support the Said Lydia [jer wearing] her wearing apparel execples during her lifetime for which Services the Said Ephriam is to receive all the benefits arising from the labour of Said Slaves during the Said Lydias life and further the Said Lydia and the Said Ephriam both agree that the death of either party makes null & void the above contract.
