White Sale of Slaves to William Zora February 4, 1842 Upson County, Georgia This indenture made this the fourth day of February eighteen hundred nad forty-two between William Zora of said county of one part and Lavina W. White of said county of Upson of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Zora and Nathan Zora did on the nineteenth day of July eighteen hundred and forty-one make and deliver to said Lavina W. White their certain promissory note ?? with their hands and leaving ?? on the said nineteenth day of July eighteen hundred and forty-one whereby the said William Zora and Nathan Zora or either of them promise to pay said Lavina W. White or bearer the sum of seven hundred and twenty-three dollars by the twenty-fifth day of December next after the date of said note for ??? ??? ??? ??? in consideration of the sum of five dollars by the said Lavina W. White to said William Zora the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged as well as for the letter securing this payment of the aforesaid promissory note the said William Zora hath granted, bargained, and sold and doth by these presents grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Lavina W. White, her heirs and assigns three negroes (sic) Retter, a girl Ephraim, a boy, and Green, a boy, and James, a boy To have and to hold said bargained premises to the said Lavina W. White, her heirs and assigns to her and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever provided nevertheless that if the said William Zora, his heirs and assigns and executors and administrators shall, will and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Lavina White, her heirs and assigns the said sum of money in said note specified on or by the twenty fifth day of December next after the date of these presents with the interest thereby on said sum of money then and from henceforth by sale. This present indenture and the right to the property thereby conveyed and with said promissory note shall cease determine the ?? to all interests and persons. In testimony the said William Zora hath affixed his seal and set his hand that the day and year ???
