COMPANY I COMPANY I, 32nd REGIMENT UPSON COUNTY, GEORGIA NICKNAME: "WOODSON GUARDS" PRIOR SERVICE: Many of the soldiers in this company were originally in Co. I, 6th Regiment Georgia State Troops. The only roll of this company on file is the muster-in roll dated May 7, 1862 . In the absence of official records, there are probably many inaccuracies. In most instances the words "Surrendered at Greensboro, N. C." were added to roll by members of the company years after the war. OFFICERS AND STAFF John F. LEWIS - Captain Alexander S. He was appointed Assistant Surgeon of the 54th Regiment Alabama Infantry November 1862 and then Surgeon of the 57th Regiment Alabama Infantry June 8,1863. James David RUSS- 2nd Lieutenant Thomas J. BLASINGAME - 2nd Lieutenant . He was wounded at The Battle of Olustee, Florida. February 20, 1864. Thomas J. NELSON - 2nd Sergeant. He was wounded and mentioned for gallantry at The Battle of Olustee, Florida. February 20,1864. John A. BUTTS - 3rd Sergeant Drayton A. TOBERT - 5th Sergeant Green H. COLLIER - lst Corporal Thomas G. TRAYLOR - 2nd Corporal John Robert FRANKLIN - 3rd Corporal. He was wounded at James Island, S. C., July 5,1864. Davis W. HARRIS - 4th Corporal. He was appointed Color Guard. Burnett, W. P. Butts, Jesse Belton Caraway, John D. Carter, Thomas M. - Thomas Merideth Carter was born on February 15, 1823 in South Carolina. He married Louisa Fincher October 16, 1845 in Pike County, Georgia. She was born September 13, 1828 in Georgia and died February 17, 1907. Thomas died December 10, 1889. Thomas and Lousia are buried at Fincher Memorial Cemetery, Meansville, Georgia. Thomas enlisted as a private May 7,1862. He surrendered with his unit at Greensboro, North Carolina, April 26, 1865.
