Kersey, the applicant for a pension in this case, and know, from my own knowledge or from positive proof presented to me by reputable witnesses, that she resides in this County, and that she resided in the State of Georgia on December 23, 1890 and has not lived out of the State since that date. I also certify that the witnesses whose tesitmony she presents to sustain her claim are known to me to be truthful witnesses, entitled to full faith and credit as such. I am fully satisfied that this claim is made in good faith, and that I have caused the applicant and the witnesses to read or hear read the proofs they sign. Kersey, who being sworn according to law, says under oath that she is the widow of Henry Kersey, who was a soldier in the service of the Confederate States, and served as a member of Company K of the 5th Regiment of GA Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service on or about the ___ day of April 1864, and was in the Confederate Army up to _____ 1865. That while in the Army, he was "captured by the enemy at the Battle of Coosahatchie, S.C. and has never been seen or heard of since the war."
