War Pension Application: William Duke, Senior, 1832 Upson County, Georgia Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Linda Hallman http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00028.html#0006914 State of Georgia County of Upson On the twenty eighth day of August in the year of Lord eighteen hundred and thirty two personally appeared in open court before Christopher B. Strong, Judge of the Superior Court of the County of Upson and State of Georgia and Flint Circuit in said now sitting William Duke, Senior a resident of the County of Upson in the State of Georgia aged seventy years who being duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7, 1832. That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated. He entered the service under the Colonel John Stewart & Lieutenant Colonel Elijah Clark and Captian Henry Duke in the late part of the year 1776. The day and month not recollected that he left the service two years thereafter and he resided the the County Wilkes and State of Georgia at the time he entered the service that he was a First Lieutenant in said company belonging to the regiment afore said in the State Troops of the State of Georgia. He was stationed and his marched was confined exclusively to the State of Georgia and that he has no documentatry evidence. He hereby relinguinghes very claim whatever to a pension or annity, exceptt hepresent , and declared that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of any state.
