Funeral services for Mr. Robert Adrian "Bob" CRAWLEY, 53, of Tom Salter Road, were held Monday, March 24, 2003 at 2 p.m. from Flint River Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Ed McIntyre officiating. Entombment followed in Upson Memorial Gardens. Mr. Crawley died Friday, March 21, 2003 at Thomaston Health & Rehab. Coggins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Crawley was a native of Upson County. He was retired from Blue Bird Industries in Fort Valley where he worked as a draftsman in the engineering department. mr. Crawley was a member of Flint River Primitive Baptist Church. He was a past state treasurer for the Gold Shield Society and was the assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America Troop #19. Mr. Crawley also served as an advisor for the VICA club. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Patsy Crawley of Thomaston; and a son, Mr. Jason Crawley of Thomaston. Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Jackson HAMMOCK, 79, formerly of Jeff Davis Road, will be held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Wolverton officiating. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Hammock died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Macon manor Nursing Home in Macon. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Hammock was a native of Upson County. She had served as a legal secretary for Attorney James R. Davis, Jr., and also as Upson County Magistrate Judge. She operated Vivian's Cake and Crafts as was employed at Newman's Sales and Service. Mrs. Hammock was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. She was a past president of the Thomaston Business and Professional Women's Club and had served as a pink lady at Upson Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Roy Odom of Macon; sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Pam Hammock of New Hope, Ala. and Roy and Beverly Hammock of Galveston, Texas; and a son, David Hammock of Thomaston; sisters, Alma Day and Mary Roche both of Thomaston; sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and W.C. Pastor Grier was born to Frank and Pearl Grier in Howard, Ga. on Sept. 16, 1923. He and his five brothers and two sisters lived in Columbus most of their childhood. Pastor Grier WAS A WWII VETERAN SERVING IN THE U.S. ARMY AS A Tec-5 DURING THE WAR. SERVING HIS COUNTRY WAS ONE THING HE WAS MOST PROUD OF On Oct. 11, 1946, he married Betty Joyce Higgs. Pastor Grier worked for many years in the textile industury both in Columbus and Thomaston. He also sold produce on the side. He began a local moving business which is now owned by his son, Eddie. Pastor Grier also built and managed Grier's self-storage. His real life-work that was most important to him was the United Pentecostal Church. Pastor Grier started the church in 1955 and pastored there until precluded by recent health issues. He served as Section Presbyter for many years and was fundamental in seeing many churches built throughout Georgia. Pastor Grier had a heart for God and for people. Many souls have been saved through his leadership and many people today testify how he helped them accept Jesus and turn their lives in a better direction. Pastor Grier was one simple man, but touched so many lives. He was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. He has been a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Pastor Grier had a heart that loved, a smile that blessed, and he freely shared with all. He will be missed. There will also be a memorial service at the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Taylor County at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2003 with Elder Fred Gordon officiating. She had made her home in Winnemucca, Nev. since 1990. Survivors include her mother, Betty Gassett Garrard of Woodbury; three sons, Jason (Sheri) Bone of Taylor County and Blake and Gatlin Houston of Winnemucca, Nev.; a brother, douglas Barrow of Augusta; and two grandchildren, Levi and Bailee Bone of Taylor County. Retired Episcopal Priest, George Irwin WELCH, of Barnesville, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Weeks died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Weeks was a native of Jefferson County, Ala. but has lived in Upson County since childhood. He was a 1949 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute and a civil defense volunteer. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and received a Purple Heart. He started the criminal justice program at Gordon College and was a parole officer with the Georgia State Department of Pardon and Parole for 31 years. Mr. Weeks was a member of the Thomaston First Presbtyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nita Pope Weeks of Thomaston; his mother, Mrs. Margaret C.
