She was a Native of MAUK but had resided in THOMASTON for several years. She was a retired hairdresser and member of the East Baptist Church. Services were held Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Mauk Baptist Church with Rev. John Autry and Rev. Rannie Gaultney officiating. Burial was at Pine Level in Mauk, Ga. She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Mary Binion of Butler and Mrs. Martha Whitley of Mauk; Sister, Mrs. Lillian Shurley of THOMASTON; brother, Billy Averett of Butler; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Dennis Whitley, Kenneth Fulcher, Randolph Averett, Jim Watson. Edwards Funeral homme of Butler was in charge of arrangements. and Jeff Watson. Mrs. Byars was laid to rest next to her deceased husband Lloyd George Byars. Lloyd George Byars had one son only from his first marriage who was a Upson Native his entire life; Elmer Byars. Mr. Elmer Byars has several children also buried in Upson County.
