Blackstock, 63-year old retired founder of Tiremaster, Inc., were held Thursday, September 22, at 2 o’clock at Upson Memorial Gardens with Dr. Robert M. Hoffman officiating. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Blackstock died Tuesday, September 18, 1984 at Columbus Medical Center following an extended illness. He resided at 82 Goshen Road. Mr. Blackstock was the founder of Tiremaster, Inc. and retired after turning the tire business over to his son, Scott Blackstock. He was a native of Gainesville and resided in Upson County since 1960. Mr. Blackstock was station manager for Braniff Airlines for 20 years and was a member of the Quite Birdmen. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Thomaston Lions Club, and Pete Thurston American Legion Post 81. He was a veteran of World War 11, serving in the Air Force with the rank of Captain. Mr. Blackstock served on the AF inactive reserve. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Kathryn Smith Blackstock, Thomaston, three daughters: Mrs. Linda Hayes, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Mrs. Diane Ray, Atlanta, Mrs. Barbara Lampkin, Birmingham, Ala, one son, Scott Blackstock, Thomaston, one sister, Mrs. Herbert Bell, Gainesville, one brother, T. P. Blackstock, Thomaston, seven grandchildren and one great grandson also survive. It is the request of the family that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Caribbean Christian Center of Port-au-Prince, Haiti in care of Life Line Evangelism, P.O.
