Britt died last Saturday night at 10 o'clock at the home of his son, Mr. W. O. Britt, where he had been sick for several weeks. His death was the result of a complication of diseases and had been expected for some days. The funeral occurred at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock and was attended by a large gathering of sorrowing relatives and friends. The exercises were conducted by Rev. R. M. Dixon. The remains were laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery at the conclusion of the funeral rites. Mr. Britt was one of the pioneer residents of this community having been born in this county in May 16, 1841, thus lacking but a few months of being 76 years of age. He had lived in Talbot in 25 years after the war and there married in 1867 Miss Lou Griffin. He also lived in Houston about 8 years. The remainder of his 76 years was lived in Upson Co., except four years in the Confederate Army. The deceased was a member of The Methodist Church. Mr. Britt leaves five children, Messrs W.O. Britt and A. A. Britt, of Thomaston, Mrs. Kittie Mae Walker, of Griffin, Mrs. B. M. Hall of Atlanta, and Sally Lou Green, of Eatonton. The deceased had lots of friends in Upson County and on the part of these and the community in general the Times extends sympathy to the family in their bereavement.
