Tom Burkett

LaGrange…..Funeral services for Tom Burkett, age 73,
were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the
Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. James Coogler
and Rev. Clifford Bradshaw officiating.  Interment
was in Mountain View Church Cemetery with Pasley-
Fletcher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Burkett died Tuesday morning  1977  at the West
Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

Mr. Burkett was retired due to disability in 1943
from the B.F. Goodirch Co.  He was a member of
Mountain View Baptist Church and had served as
Chairman of the Board of Deacons.  He was a native
of Pike County but had lived in Thomaston for the
past 70 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hamlin
Burkett, Thomaston, a daughter, Mrs. James Shelnutt
of Roanoke, Ala., two brothers:  C. H. Burkett and
C. C. Burkett both of Thomaston, two sisters:  Mrs.
Odessa Ard, and Miss Vesta Burkett, both of
Thomaston.  Two grandsons, Gregg and Rex Shelnutt of
Roanoke, Ala., also survive.
