Butts Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Walter B. Butts, 85, of 1258 Pickard Road Thursday, May, 7, 1987 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. Mr. Butts died late Tuesday afternoon, May 5, at his residence. Elder Pat Denton, Licentiate Billy Harris and Elder Roswell Smith will officiate. Interment will be held in Friendship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Butts was a native of Upson County. He was a retired farmer and peach grower, a former secretary and treasurer of the Flint River Production Credit Association, retired rural mail carrier with 44 years service, honored as the first “citizen of the month” by the Thurston Community Club, a member of the Board of Trustees for consolidation of the Thurston Community Schools. Mr. Butts was a deacon of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church, which he joined on June 6, 1931, a charter director and incorporator of the Upson County Electric Membership Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Abernathy Butts of Thomaston: two daughters, Mrs. W. T. (Ann) Ellerbee Jr., and Mrs. Jane Butts Green, both of Thomaston, two sons: Ray of Atlanta and Jimmy both of Thomaston. Eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
