Thursday night, Dec. 18, Mr. Elijah Cummings died at his home in the north-
weatern part of the county.  He had been in feeble health since last March.  
His remains were laid to rest at Zion Chapel Cemetery, the funeral services 
being conducted by Rev. Eugene Rutland of Thomaston.  Mr. Cummings was born on 
Sept. 22, 1829.  He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Commings and one 
son, W.H. Cummings.   He had never joined the church but believed on the Lord 
and was a good man always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.  His 
death will be mourned by many.
