L. Dawson commits Suicide in Birmingham Was Despondent Over His Protracted Illness Birmingham, Nov. 17 (Special)-A. L. Dawson, a white man of family 29 years of age, in desperation and despondency over his protracted illness, deliberately shot his brains out last night at his home Nov. 619 Twenty-first Street. He had been suffering for the past month with a disorder of the kidneys and was lying sick in the bed all day yesterday. He had been employed by the Birmingham Railway Light and Power Company for several months. His wife attended him faithfully yesterday. Last night he asked her to go to an adjoining room and call her brother. She left him and an instant afterwards she heard the report of the pistol which did the deadly work. His wife returned instantly and tried to get one word from her husband, but in vain. His body was shipped to Thomaston, Ga., his former home for interment. He leaves a wife and child. Additional Comments: Buried in Glenwood cemetery, row 12, lot 19 with parents, but stone isn't marked.
