Dallas Died Thursday A life long resident, He was one of Thomaston's Best known citizen's. Mr. R. E. Dallas died Thursday Morning about 4:30 o'clock after an illness of about two weeks. He was stricken with Flu about two weeks ago. Other complications set in later and he has been critically Ill for more than a week. Apparently he was a little improved a day or so ago and some hopes if his recovery were Entertained but end came suddenly Thursday morning before his Physician could reach his bed side. Mr. Dallas was 63 years of age and had been born and reared in this County, his place of birth being a few miles southeast of Thomaston. He had been engaged in farming practically all his life and had operated a mercantile business for a number of years. He was the owner of several farms and a valuable peach orchard about a mile southeast of the city which was just coming into maturity. Mr. Dallas was a good citizen. He was fearless in his views and always took a stand for the right. Any case that he championed he defended with his whole soul. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Thomaston and one of its most liberal supporters. He had many warm friends and he was ready to help and cheer them in any emergency. The deceased is survived by his widow and three sons; Col. McKenzie Dallas, Marvin and Edward Dallas. These have the sincere sympathy of the people of the community in their bereavement. In the passing of Mr. Dallas, Thomaston and Upson Co. have lost one of their most sustaining citizens and his death will bring sorrow to all who knew him. The funeral services of Mr. Dallas will be held from the Thomaston Baptist Church Friday Morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. C.S. Durden pastor of the church will be in charge and will be assisted by Rev. R. S. England, Pastor of Thomaston Methodist church, and Elder S. H. Whatley, Pastor Grace Primitive Baptist Church. Other- Glenwood Cemetery, Robert Edwin Dallas 12/10/1861- 2/26/1925
