Newspaper dated February 20, 1978: REV. APTON P. DANIEL SR. Meansville - Funeral services for Rev. Apton Preston Daniel Sr., age 68, of Route 1, Atwater Road, Meansville, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Smyrna Baptist Church with the Rev. R. L. Sparkman and the Rev. Foy Perkins officiating. Burial was in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery with Coggins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Rev. Daniel died Wednesday at the Upson County Hospital. Rev. Daniel was a native of Spalding County but made his home in Pike County. He was a retired employee of the Thomaston Mills, Thomaston Divisions, and was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie Daniel; three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Short, Arnold, Md., Mrs. Louise Goff, Forest Park(GA), and Mrs. Sandra Alexander, Asheville, N.C.; three sons A. P. Daniel Jr., Molena, and James E. Daniel and John W. Daniel, both of Meansville; a half-brother, Vera Millin, Warner Robins; five sisters, Mrs. Claudie Bell Daniel Meansville, Mrs. Ethel Ellerbee..Locust Grove, Mrs. Lonnie Click, Pascagoula, Miss., Mrs. Christine Stribling, College Park, and Mrs. Ruth Floyd, Bakersfield, Calif.; 26 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. ================= Notes: Meansville is in Pike County, GA and is very close to Upson County near the north boundary, Smyrna Baptist Church is in Upson County, Coggin Funeral Home is in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. The year 1983 is handwritten at the top of the copy of the obituary. Wednesday Rites For Mrs. Nellie Daniel Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie F. Daniel, 72, were held Wednesday, January 5 at 1 o'clock at Smyrna Baptist church with Rev. Ross Minton and Rev. Ron Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Coggins Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Daniel died Sunday, January 2 at her residence at Route 1, Meansville. She was a retired employee of the Thomaston Division of Thomaston Mills. Mrs. Daniel, a native of Dahlonega, resided in Pike County for the past 30 years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Louise Goff, Thomaston; Mrs. Lillian Short, St. Mountain; Mrs. Sandra Alexander, Raleigh, N. C.; three sons, James E. Daniel, Sr., Thomaston; John W. Daniel, Meansville; A. P.
