Frank Daniel who wrote for the Journal from 1925 to 1965 was a graduate of the University of Georgia and he also studied at Columbia University. Mr. Daniel was a veteran of WW1. He joined The Journal as a opera critic and his coverage of opera gained him national attention and the Quill Award of the Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalist/Sigma Delta Chi. Following his retirement from The Journal, Mr. Daniel was hired by the late Secretary of State Ben Fortson to edit the official papers of former governors. Mr. Daniel worked with the Department of Archives until he retired a second time in 1979. During his tenure with the Journal, Mr. Daniel was a colleague of two of Georgia’s most famous authors, Margaret Mitchell and Erskine Caldwell.
