SAD DEATH OF YOUNG MATRON (Annie Ruth McDaniel Davis)

Mrs. J.  T. Davis died early Wednesday morning at her
home about two miles East of Thomaston after a brief
illness. Her remains were laid to rest in Glenwood
Cemetery Thursday after funeral exercises at the
Thomaston Methodist church, the last rites being
conducted by Rev. M. S. Williams.

The death of this young woman was especially sad as she
was only 20 years of age and had been married but a year
or so. Her death was a sad blow to her husband and loving
family. She was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. S. B.
McDaniel. 

Mrs. Davis was a member of the Methodist church. The
people of this community are offering genuine sympathy to
the sorely bereaved husband and other relatives.

======================= Little token of Remembrance On
Feb 11th, 1920, a beautiful and useful life was ended
when God in his infinite wisdom removed from our midst my
beloved friend, Ruth McDaniel Davis. Ruth was ill about
10 days but her sickness was not considered very serious
until a few hours before her death. Scarcely was the
seriousness of her case realized until she was quietly
falling asleep in the arms of Jesus. The suddenness of
her going away makes it doubly hard to bear.

Every possibly effort was made to prolong her life but
our kind heavenly father, who doeth all things well tho't
best to take her himself, and sent angels to gently hear
her spirit across the river of life to the mansions of
the blest.

Ruth possessed all the noble qualities of soul that
formed the character of a kind daughter and sister, an
affectionate wife and useful Christian. As a friend I
shall miss her more than anyone, for being deprived of a
sister, she came nearer filling that place in my heart
than anyone else. Indeed she was a true and faithful
friend and while I miss her I will ever cherish her
memory and be thankful for her friendship and loyalty.

"I wonder why in this bright world Most every joy is
mixed with care-In all the gladness of our lives, Why
must some sorrow have a share? Why must a tear drop ever
appear To mar our happiness withal-And force it's way in
our midst Making our spirits surely fall ?"

Ruth was married Dec. 7th 1916 to Mr. J. T. Davis of
Reynolds, Ga. and altho their married life was short,
their home was the gem of the earth and the companionship
of each other the essence of life itself.  Death is a
silent and merciless reaper, and often gathers loved ones
in their happiest season.

"Blessed are the dead who die in The Lord." Besides her
husband she leaves a father and mother, three sisters and
one brother to mourn her departure. 

"We grieve because we feel the separation so keenly but
we must be comforted with the tho't, "God hath made us
and we are his". So after all death is only going home.
