Ellington, I will try to write a few lines in memory of my loving father. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Ellington; was born in Upson Co, Ga. August 9, 1862. He was the oldest of seven boys and two girls. He was married to Miss Lillian Adams, Nov. 27, 1883 and to this union were born 3 children: T.B. Ellington, of Augusta, Ga. and J.B. and Braxton Ellington of Howard, Ga. He professed a hope in Christ and joined the Primitive Baptist at Good Hope and was baptized by Elder S.T. Bentley in Oct., 1886. He always attended his meetings and was never to busy to go when the time came. Papa was always Loyal to his Church. He was sick about six months, but was confined to his bed more than a month. Papa attended his meeting in August and visited Howard a few days, but when he came back home he said he would never leave any more until he would be carried to the Cemetery. On Saturday, before he died on Tuesday, he sang so sweet "I'm going home". On Tuesday Oct. 13 1914, he fell asleep in Jesus. The remains were laid to rest in Howard Cemetery Oct. 14. in the midst of a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives. 'Tis so hard to give up our loved ones and know we will never see their sweet faces again in this Cruel world. He leaves a Vacant place in our home which can never be filled and a voice we loved is forever stilled. We hope that God will give us grace sufficient to be submissive to his holy will.
