Ferguson,Sr., 77, were held Monday, March 16 at 11: o'clock from the Chapel of Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home with Rev. W. H. Ruff and Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery. Mr. Ferguson, a native Upsonian, died Saturday morning at his residence at 529 South Green Street. He operated a service station here for about 30 years prior to moving to Jekyll Island where he assisted in the operation of Jekyll Drug Store for 13 years until his retirement in 1975. He returned to Thomaston to make his home. Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Mason and Shrine and the First United Methoodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Trice Ferguson, two daughters; Mrs. Ronnie Maxwell, Thomaston, Mrs. Betty F. Thornton, Jekyll Island, one son, James W. Ferguson, Jr., Brunswick, two sisters; Mrs. Pruitt Ellerbee, Thomaston, Mrs. Jack Ward, Griffin, three brothers; Capus Ferguson, Macon, Marcus Ferguson and T. A. (Andy) Ferguson, both of Thomaston, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
