George Eugene Free, 71, of 1485 Woodland Road was dead on arrival at Upson 
County Hospital on Tuesday, April 28.  The funeral was held in Coggins Chapel 
on Thursday, April 30, at 3:00 p.m.  Rev. Dean Hemphill officiated and 
interment was in Southview Cemetery.
Mr. Free was the owner-operator of a grocery store and had been an Upsonian for 
65 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtice Free of Thomaston, two sons;  Ronald 
Free of Carrollton, and Roy Free of Thomaston, one sister, Mrs. Lucille Huckaby 
of Griffin.  Two grandchildren also survive.
