Thomaston News
Final rite for James Alfred Hammond, 71 were held Friday, July 15 at 2 o'clock
at the Antioch United Methodist Church with Rev. John B.F. Smith and Rev. Grady
Wheeless officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Pasley-Fletcher
Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hammond died Wed Jul 13 at the Medical Center of Cental GA in Macon. He was
a retired employee of the Finishing Division of Thomston Mills with 39 years
service. He was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and was a Navy
veteran of WWII. He was a native of Spalding County and resided in Upson Co for
65 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Bernette Hammond, Thomaston; one
daughter, Mrs. Brenda Sorrells, Thomaston; one son, James Douglas Hammond,
Molena; one sister, Mrs. Ruby H. Radcliffe, Brandon, Florida; one brother, H.D.
Hammond Sr, Thomaston; nine grandchildren also survive.
