Mr. Alton Sr.    (Mr. Alton Howell, Sr.)
  Funeral services for Mr. Alton Howell, Sr., 89, of Barnesville Highway, will 
be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the Pasley-Fletcher Chapel with 
the Rev. Charles Bennett officiating.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
  Mr. Howell died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 at Upson Regional Medical Center.
  Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
  Mr. Howell was a native of Upson County.  He was the former owner and 
operator of Howell’s Grocery Store and the Howell Distributing Co.  He was a 
member of First United Methodist Church and Morning Star Lodge #27, Free and 
Accepted Masons.
  Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Bobbie H. Gordon of Cullman, Ala., and 
Mrs. Kay Howell Gulledge of Griffin, a son, Mr. Al Howell of Thomaston; and 
grandchildren, Jim (Cindy) Gordon of Keller, Texas, Joe Gordon of Houston, 
Texas, Julie (Rand) Gordon Hinds of Tupelo, Miss., Ben (Laura) Bowen and Rob 
(Jim) Bowen, all of Charlotte, N.C. and Blake Howell of Thomaston.
  Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral 
home.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Thomaston Hospice or 
the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
