Hood, aged 82, of 304 Moye Street, Barnesville, died at the Upson County Hospital on Tuesday evening, September 11. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Calvery Baptist Church with the Rev. Rilley Verdon, Rev. Horace Sheffield and the Rev. Franklin Gibson officiating. Hastens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Hood was born in Upson County, but had resided for many years in Barnesville. He was an Army veteran of World War 1, a Mason, a charter member and deacon of Calvery Baptist Church whee he taught the men's Bible Class. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Lee Vent Hood of Barnesville, five sisters; Mrs. Flossie Gartman of Barnesville, Mrs. Ruth Duncan and Mrs. Milley Hood of Rome, Mrs. Ronnie Jordan of Danville, Va., and Mrs. Addie Gainey of Fort Mouth, Va. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
