She was born July 25, 1880. married to Mr. W.R. Hancock of Crawford County Dec 31, 1898. She joined the church early in life. As a wife and mother she was devoted to her family. All was done for her that physicians, friends, and a kind husband could do, but none could stay the cold arm of death who claimed her as its victim. As the gate of heaven swung back and her spirit emerged from it's earthly body to enter into the true live and winged it's flight to the heavenly mansion prepared for the redeemed. "Death where is thy sing, Grave where is thy victory." We mourn the absence of her genial smile and her cheering presence, but we feel that our loss is her eternal gain, for we have evidence that she is at home with her heavenly Father beyond all sorrow and suffering. For she has crossed the mystic river. From our lives she has gone where all is peace and joy, there to await the coming of her loved ones, who she left so sad and lonely. May the grace of a loving Saviour sustain the bereaved husband in his sad and irreparable loss, that he may guide the little children so that when LIfe's journey is over they may meet her on the other shore where all will be joy and happiness forever more. There she'll wait and watch forever, With a welcome for each one, As they pass the shining portals, When the toil of life id done. Fare thee well! How hard to speak it, Such a long, long sad farewell, But alas, we now must leave you In your lonely home to dwell. Angels watch the peaceful slumber. Shed hallow o'er your bed For with tears we laid you gently Down to sleep among the dead Her loving sisters, Minnie and Carrie Ellington NOTE: (Missie is the daughter of William Madison Ellington and Mildred Julia Leola Cox) Missie Irene Ellington and William Robert Hancock were married December 21, 1898 in Thomaston, (Upson County) Georgia.
