Harris died at his home in this city Tuesday morning. He had been ill for several weeks but apparently was on the road to recovery when complications developed Monday which necessitated an operation from which he died early Tuesday morning. His death came as a distinct shock as it was generally thought he would be able to leave his room in a few days. The Funeral and Burial Occurred Wednesday afternoon. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church at 3 o'clock. The exercises were conducted by the Pastor, Rev. T. M. Stevenson. He was assisted by Rev. M. S. Williams, Pastor of Thomaston Methodist Church, and Rev. C. S. Durden, Pastor Thomaston Baptist Church. All of these speakers paid splendid tributes to the memory of the deceased. The burial Occurred in Glenwood Cemetery, the rites being conducted by the local order of Masons, of which the deceased was a member. Mr. Harris was 45 years of age and a member of the Presbyterian church. He was a Mason, his membership being the local Lodge. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Davis Harris. Mr. Harris had many friends in Thomaston and Upson Co., who believed him an upright Christian gentlemen. As a Rural carrier of the Thomaston Post Office he came in contact with many people from the County whom he served daily and he enjoyed the esteem and friendship of these to whom he was always cheerful and accommodating in the discharge of his duties. The deceased was a native of Farmville , S.C., and had been a resident of Thomaston about 10 years. The widow and other relatives of the deceased have the genuine sympathy of the people of this community in their bereavement.
