End Came at Midnight Tuesday of Heart trouble. Mr. Moses J. Harvey died at his home in this city Tuesday night. The end came suddenly and unexpectedly at midnight. The immediate cause of demise was heart trouble. Near midnight he was stricken with heart trouble and died. The funeral was held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. Frank L. Ward, Mr. Harvey's former pastor. The body was laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery beside the remains of his wife who preceded him to the grave about 10 years ago. Mr. Harvey was nearly 70 years of age having been born July 16, 1845, in Marion Co. Ga. On April 10, 1869, he united in marriage with Miss America E. Lyon. Of this union nine children are left to mourn his death as follows; Mr. J. M. Harvey of Glennville; Mr. W. C. Harvey of Brooklet; Mr. M. H. Harvey near Barnesville; Mr. E. M. Harvey near Yatesville; Mr. L.B. Harvey of Forsyth; Mrs. B.D. Harden of Valdosta; Miss Florrie Harvey, Miss Susie Harvey and Mr. Wilburn Harvey of Thomaston. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church having for years served as Deacon. He was also a Mason being a member of the local lodge which took charge of the exercises at the grave. Mr. Harvey was a Confederate Veteran with a distinguished record. He enlisted at Buena Vista, Ga., in Co. K. 12 Ga. Regiment infantry in June 1861. In May 1864 he was captured at Spottsylvania and was a prisoner at Point Lookout, Md., from May to November when he was exchanged and returned to his company in Jan. 1865. He was again captured at Petersburg, Va., in April and discharged from Prison in July, 1865. Mr. Harvey had the distinction of being shot twice in the same battle. In the death of Mr. Harvey Thomaston and Upson Co. lose one of their best citizens and the people in every walk of life will mourn. He was indeed a good man in the truest sense of the word and he leaves his children a legacy far more valuable than wealth- a Good name.
