A member of Morning Star Lodge # 27 F&A,Dr, Hester was a Master Mason and was raised to Sublime Degree of Master Mason November 15,1938. He was past High Priest of Thomaston Chapter of #29 Royal Arch Masons and past Emminent Commander of H Tillman Haygood Commdery # 18 of the Knight Templer.A past member of AlSihah Oriental Band and a member of AlSihah Shrine Temple in Macon.He was also a lifetime member of the Knights Templer Eye Foundation ,a member and past President of the Thomaston County Club and the First Presbyterian Church. Dr.Hester is survived by his wife ,Mrs.Marie Hilley Hester;one daughter Miss Sarah M.Hester, of Thomaston;one son James A.Hester,Jr. of Thomaston; one sister Mrs.Sarah M.Smith,of Greenville,South Carolina;and one brother Kenneth Hester of Easley,South Carolina.Six grandchildren ,one great-grandchild,one niece and one nephew also survive. Dr. Albert E. Simmons and Rev. Tom Dews officiated at graveside service held Monday, November 17 in Southview Cemetery. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
