CLYDE HILLIARD and little daughter, LUCIE, victims of automobile -train wreck at Zebulon, Sunday morning were held at the home of her Mother, Mrs. Mattie WILSON, at 117 Avenue "F" East Thomaston, Monday. The bodies were carried to Griffin and later buried in Griffin Cemetery with Stephens Undertaking Company, Lyne Crenshaw, Funeral director, in charge. Mrs. Hilliard is survived by her husband and three children. The account of the tragedy as sent out from Zebulon as follows: ZEBULON, GA. June 1- Five persons were killed outright and a sixth, a small child, was probably fatally injured when a light touring car in which they were riding was struck by the Southern Railway Passenger Train No. 22, at the crossing here this Morning. The DEAD are: Sam Stuart, 40; Mrs. Sam Stuart: Mrs. Clyde W. Hilliard, 25; and her eight-month-old baby ,Lucile, all of Hampton Ga. Ronelle, two and a half year old daughter of Mrs. Hilliard, is in an Atlanta Hospital, and little hope is entertained for her recovery. The fatal crash occured in full view of Stuart's brother's and youngest son and three other occupants of an automobile which had crossed the track only a few seconds before the ill-fated car was hit by the fast passenger train. The passengers of the first car, dazed by their own narrow escape, sought to warn the second car of the impending danger, but did not have sufficient time before the train crashed into the car. The car was torn into bits and the occupants were hurled high into the air. Little Ronelle Hilliard lost conscience when picked up, as placed on the train and hurried to Atlanta. Members of the two families riding in the two cars spent the weekend with Mrs. Stuart's sister near Zebulon and were returning to their homes, planning to drive to Forsyth for the day where J. W. Stuart a brother of the dead man, resided. The first car was driven by J. W. Stuart and Sam Stuart was driving the trailing car. J. W. Stuart, brother of the dead man collapsed soon after the accident, and was taken to his home in Forsyth were Physicians are in attendance.
