H. Howell answered the divine summons, "come up higher". For the past several years he had been an intense yet patient sufferer, but for some weeks prior to his passing away he seemed to be improving, hence his sudden death was quiet a shock. In early life he connected himself with the Methodist Church and remained faithful to the end. In his death the church has lost one of its most faithful members. In his last few years he was very feeble having sustained a fractured hip, but as physically affected as he was, he would ride thru winter's cold and summers heat to attend his church meetings. As steward and trustee he served faithfully, finding pleasure in doing service for the church. It is natural that we as church brothers and sisters should grieve at parting with such a faithful one but may we find comfort in the thought our loss is his gain. During the civil war he answered his Country's call and spent eleven months at the front, suffering with undaunted courage. He loved and cherished his comrades in arms; it being a source of much pleasure to him to attend the yearly reunions and appreciated every courtesy extended him as a true Veteran. l the hardships the soldier's in gray were Henry H.
