Papa was sick only about 2 hours. All was done that could be done for him by loving hands and a kind physician in his short illness. Papa was 50 years old, a loving father and a devoted husband, to know him was to love him. He always had a word of cheer for everybody; always came home so glad to see us. He would come in and tell sweet mamma "I slipped in on you" and would laugh. He is gone, my precious Papa. He is sleeping neath the clay, calmly sleeping till the dawning Of the resurrection day. But those tones are hushed in slumber ,Toil stained hands and laid to rest and he has gone to join the number of glorified and blest. Oh joyous home now desolate a circle broken and gone. A vacant chair at the table, a lonely family left to mourn. Sleep dear papa sweetly sleep. God thy soul will guard and keep While thee we sigh and mourn. Sleep dear papa sleep. He leaves his widow, Hettie Hudgins, one daughter, Odessa Hudgins, one son, Howard Hudgins, three sisters, Mrs. Annie Deloach, Mrs. Florence Deloach, and Miss Lizzie Hudgins, and a host of other relatives all of Tthomaston to mourn his departure. Written by his daughter, Odessa Hudgins Glenwood Cemetery, 50 years old 10/17/ 1874- 3/27/1924
