Bob Steele officiating. Burial followed in Crystal Hill Cemetery. Mr. Anthony died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Coggins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Anthony was a native of Upson County. He was employed by Coach Doctor of Atlanta where he worked as the shop foreman. Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Alva Anthony. Survivors include his sons, Mr. Dustin J. Anthony of Meansville and Mr. Kenneth H. Anthony Jr. of Thomaston; step-sons, Mr. Jeffery Smith and Mr. Johnny Smith, both of Barnesville; his mother, Mrs. Mae Dell Anthony of Meansville; brothers, Mr. Alvis Anthony of Meansville, Mr. Wayne Anthony of Zebulon and Mr. Winfred Anthony of Lyons; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Lila Corley BEVERLY, 101, of Stewart Avenue, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Pasley- Fletcher Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Robert Lewis CHUNN, 66, of Manchester, were held Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 in the Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Manchester with the Rev. Ed White officiating. Mr. Chunn died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at the West Georgia Medical Center of LaGrange. Cox Funeral Home of Manchester was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Chunn was born May 16, 1936 in Meriwether County. He was the son of William L. and mary Emma Chunn. He was a retired driver of the CSX railroad transport service. Mr. Chunn was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Chunn of Manchester; a daughter, Jacklyn Chunn of Culloden; three sons, Robert L. Mr. Cochran was a member and deacon of Pritchett Memorial Baptist Church were he was involved in the music department. He also played bass guitar for many gospel groups. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Teresa Cochran of Thomaston; father, Mr. Doug Cochran of Thomaston; mother, Mrs. Margie Cochran of Thomaston and sister, Mrs. Faye Boyt of Thomaston. Funeral services for Mr. Henry Grady COKER Sr., 90, of Atwater Road, were held Tuesday, Dec. 31. 2002 at 2 p.m. at Clark's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Hemphill officiating. Mr. Coker was born in Murray County, Ga. but lived in Thomaston for many years. He was retired from BF Goodrich where he worked for over 38 years as the overseer in the twister room. Mr. Coker was a member and deacon of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his sons, Mr. Grady Coker, Mr. James (Betty) Coker and Mr. Wayne (Cherry) Coker, all of Thomaston; daughters, Mrs. Laverne Collins of Elk Grove, Calif. and Mrs. Fay (Bob) McRee of Bozeman, Mont.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Hollis CRAWFORD, 77, of Barnesville, were held Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the Unionville United Methodist Church on High Falls Road in Barnesville with Dr. Vincent Miller and Bishop Robert Williams officiating. He was employed by Pomona Product Co. from 1971 to 1984. Mr. Mills had been employed as a security guard for Thomaston Mills and Upson Regional Medical Center. Hamby Funeral Home of Lavonia is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kilgore was born Aug. 3, 1921 in Clarke County. He was the son of the late Henry and Bertie Lou Garrison Kilgore. He was a retired plumber and pipe fitter and A UNITED STATES ARMY VETERAN OF WWII DURING WHICH TIME HE SERVED AS A MEDIC. Mr. Kilgore was a member of the Lavonia Church of God and a Master Mason and member of Nancy Hart Lodge #690 Free and Accepted Masons. "Uncle Andy" was an avid harmonica player who gained notoriety across North Georgia and Western South Carolina. He played with numerous southern Gospel groups including the Hicks Family of Hartwell. He was a featured performer at the annual New Year's Eve Sing at the Mount Olive Church of God for many years. He was first married to the late Edna Lee Kilgore. In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Kilgore was also preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Young. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mrs. Ethel Lois Corns Kilgore of Martin; sons, Victor Kilgore of Powder Springs and Larry Belford of Valdosta; sisters, Hazel Lummus of Thomaston, Ellen Jones of Cumming, Martha Robinson of Blairsville and Bertie Lou Hall of Dasher; brothers, Henry Kilgore of Tennessee and Gene Kilgore of Thomaston; and two grandchildren. He worked for Reddick Construction Company for many years. He also worked with Thomaston Mills for over 20 years. Mr. Manueal was a loving and kind person who loved his family and friends. Ganelle Smith Wall Mrs. Ganelle Smith Wall, 82, of Covington, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at Starcrest Nursing Home in McDonough. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Wall was born in Upson County and graduated from Robert E. Lee Institue in 1937. For many years she owned and operated Wall's Book Store in Covington. Mrs. Collins was born Jan. 1, 1909 in Clayton County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Elijah and Emma Belle Cooper Hunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Collins. Mrs. Collins was the former owner of Mays Grocery in Fort Valley, Ga. for 17 years. She was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. Mr. Huckabee better known as "Huck", attended Georgia Tech until 1940 when he left for Aviation Cadet program and was in continuous service until Jan. 1950. He served in the South Pacific in the illustrious Forty- Ninth Fighter Group flying P-38 on combat missions. After leaving the Forty-Ninth Fighter Group he was given command of the 5279th Airborne Fighter Control Squadron which was selected by Gen. Douglas McArthur to spearhead the airborne entry of Japan. He came back to Georgia in early 1946 and became chief of the production inspection section of the maintenance division at Warner Robins Air Material Area and after that held many of the exacting jobs on Robins AR Base. After leaving the service in 1950 he came back to Thomaston and was in business for several years before opening the Kentucky Fried Chicken store in Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas. He sold those and moved to Tallahassee, Fla. where he built, owned and operated Trader Engs Hibacki Steakhouse from 1969 to 1979. After selling that business, he moved back to his hometown of Thomaston, Ga. Mr. Huckabee was a member of First United Methodist Church in Thomaston. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Doris Blount Huckabee; a daughter, Jan (Doug) Scott; a grandson, Clayton D. Scott all of Tallahassee; a sister, Gwen H. Daniel; and a niece, Luane D. "Uncle Andy" was an avid harmonica player who gained notoriety across North Georgia and Western South Carolina. He played with numerous southern Gospel groups including the Hicks Family of Hartwell. He was a featured performer at the annual New Year's Eve Sing at the Mount Olive Church of God for many years. He was first married to the late Edna Lee Kilgore. In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Kilgore was also preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Young. Mr. Huckabee better known as "Huck", attended Georgia Tech until 1940 when he left for Aviation Cadet program and was in continuous service until Jan. 1950. He served in the South Pacific in the illustrious Forty- Ninth Fighter Group flying P-38 on combat missions. After leaving the Forty-Ninth Fighter Group he was given command of the 5279th Airborne Fighter Control Squadron which was selected by Gen. Douglas McArthur to spearhead the airborne entry of Japan. He came back to Georgia in early 1946 and became chief of the production inspection section of the maintenance division at Warner Robins Air Material Area and after that held many of the exacting jobs on Robins AR Base. After leaving the service in 1950 he came back to Thomaston and was in business for several years before opening the Kentucky Fried Chicken store in Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas. He sold those and moved to Tallahassee, Fla. where he built, owned and operated Trader Engs Hibacki Steakhouse from 1969 to 1979. After selling that business, he moved back to his hometown of Thomaston, Ga. Mr. Huckabee was a member of First United Methodist Church in Thomaston. He moved to Zebulon and opened Moody Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in 1980. Rev. Moody served two terms as Pike County Coroner and was a former member of the Pike County Lions Club and the Milby Medical Center Board of Directors. In recent years he was interim minister at numerous churches in Pike County and was a speaker for the "Voices of Veterans," Where he proudly spoke to audiences about his service in the military. Mr. Huckabee better known as "Huck", attended Georgia Tech until 1940 when he left for Aviation Cadet program and was in continuous service until Jan. 1950. He served in the South Pacific in the illustrious Forty- Ninth Fighter Group flying P-38 on combat missions. After leaving the Forty-Ninth Fighter Group he was given command of the 5279th Airborne Fighter Control Squadron which was selected by Gen. Douglas McArthur to spearhead the airborne entry of Japan. He came back to Georgia in early 1946 and became chief of the production inspection section of the maintenance division at Warner Robins Air Material Area and after that held many of the exacting jobs on Robins AR Base. After leaving the service in 1950 he came back to Thomaston and was in business for several years before opening the Kentucky Fried Chicken store in Beaumont and Port Arthur, Texas. He sold those and moved to Tallahassee, Fla. where he built, owned and operated Trader Engs Hibacki Steakhouse from 1969 to 1979. After selling that business, he moved back to his hometown of Thomaston, Ga. Mr. Huckabee was a member of First United Methodist Church in Thomaston. She moved to Atlanta in 1974. Caroline loved to garden and collect antiques, especially things that were family heirlooms. She was very involved with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson and loved to plan family gatherings. She also enjoyed gathering with her friends and relatives and keeping alive family stories and traditions. She was an active volunteer with Alzheimer's patients and regularly volunteered at Arbor Terrace in Decatur. Caroline was an inspiration to many. Her friendships crossed many generations and she was loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Waldrop was born in Haralson County, Ga. but lived in Thomaston for many years. She was retired from the Arrow Shirt Company where she worked for over 37 years as a sewing machine operator. She was retired from Thomaston Mills where she worked as a spinner. Mrs. Wiggins was a member of Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James C. Wiggins of Thomaston.
