Gene Walton officiating. Mr. Callahan died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at his residence. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home of Griffin was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Callahan was born in Upson County, Ga. on May 28, 1934. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. Mr. Callahan was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Coggins Callahan. Survivors include his children, Terry Callahan of Griffin, Lisa Miller of Sunnyside, Teresa Callahan, Tammy Callahan, Rob Callahan and Jerry Callahan, all of Griffin and Mike Callahan of Concord; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Sis Bloodworth of Thomaston; brothers, Pete Callahan of Thomaston and Quint Callahan of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. CHERRY Funeral services for Ms. Eunice Mae Cherry, 69, of Veterans Drive Apts., will be held Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Pine Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. W.L. Smith officiating. Ms. Worthy was a lifelong resident of Upson County. She was formerly employed with the Peerless Mill. He lived in Thomaston for many years and retired from B.F. Goodrich as section leader of the twister room after over 32 years of service. DORSEY Sr. Funeral services for Mr. Claudie Haley Dorsey Sr., 76, of B Street, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Coggins Funeral Home with the Rev. Mr. Dorsey was born in Rockdale County, Ga. to the late Claude and Bertie Conner Dorsey. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Mr. Dorsey was retired from Topeka Auto Salvage where he worked for over 30 years as the manager. He was a member of The Rock United Methodist Church of The Rock, Ga. and a member of the Thomaston VFW club. Mr. Dorsey was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Rosa Mae Wheeler Dorsey and two sons, Mr. Claudie Haley Dorsey Jr. and Mr. David Madison Dorsey. Mr. Ellington was a native of Upson County where he lived all of his life. He retired from the pulpwood business over 30 years ago and had since become an avid gardener. He grew and sold many vegetables from his garden on Highway 19 North and was known for his tomatoes. Mr. Ellington was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Rhunette Ellington of Thomaston; daughters, Eloise Ellington of Yatesville and Connie Harp and Sandra Fenley, both of Thomaston; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Miss Hancock was a native of Thomaston. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Ira Cleveland Hancock Sr. and the late Mrs. Ida Mann Hancock. She had been a resident of Bradenton, Fla. since 1972. She was a former resident of Perry, Ga., and had lived abroad extensively. Miss Hancock was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Sarah Hancock Moore and her brother, Mr. Ira Cleveland Hancock Jr. she retired from the U.S. Government in 1970. Miss Hancock was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was an avid bridge player. WHITE Memorial services for Robert Preston White, 64, and Martha Jim Baker White, 62, of Texas, were held Jan. 2, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. White died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003. Mr. and Mrs. White and family were former residents of Thomaston. Together they raised three children and loved and adored seven grandchildren. Robert graduated from Baylor University and received his MBA from SMU. Martha was the truest form of the Proverbs 31 woman. she supported her husband, loved her children and cherished a broad circle of family and friends. Together they lived an adventurous life. Whether is was pastoring churches. flying, farming or home building, they enjoyed life to the fullest. They were devoted Christians who attended Park Cities Baptist Church and enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of their Sunday School Class. Survivors include their children, Deana (Greg) Chandler, Doug (Beverly) White and Debbie (Matt) Kingsley; seven grandchildren; Robert's mother, Marie White; Robert's three sisters; and Martha's three brothers. She served as PTA president in both elementary and high schools and also was president of the Thomaston Teachers Association. As a licensed Georgia funeral director, she assisted her husband in the funeral business and served as secretary of Tilman Dix Casket Company. Always active in her churches, formerly First Baptist Church of Thomaston and currently First Presbyterian of Greenville, S.C., she taught the Highlights Sunday School Class, served as chairman of Circle #1 and held many leadership roles through the years. Since moving to Greenville in 1986, she has been an active member of the Swansgate community where she had served on the board of directors and as social chairman.
