Mr. Jones lived alone a few miles south of Thomaston, and he arose early Thursday morning to dress and lit a lamp which exploded. The oil spattering over him setting him on fire. He was severely burned and medical aid was summoned as quickly as possible by neighbors. He lingered until Saturday afternoon when he passed away. It is said fully half of his body was burned by the oil flames and he suffered intensely. Mr. Jones body was buried at the family Cemetery near his home Sunday afternoon. The exercises being conducted by Rev. Hicks. Mr. Jones had never been married. His mother lived with him until her death about a year ago. Mr. Jones was a quiet industrious, inoffensive citizen. he had many friends in the community in which lived in Thomaston. His fearful and untimely death is greatly regretted throughout the community.
