King, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Sherman and Grayson County, died this morning at 1:20 o’clock. Mr. King had been sick for some weeks but since last Tuesday had grown rapidly worse until he passed peacefully to his reward and the inheritance of all good people. Mr. King was born in Upson County, Georgia, April 22, 183?, and has been a resident of Sherman for more than thirty years. He was married to Miss Jane C. Thornton of Georgia, November 22, 1853. He was a Confederate soldier and a member of the first company from his county and served with credit throughout the Civil War. He was a consistent member of the Flint Baptist Church and his life as a Christian example has meant an inspiration to his friend and neighbors. There survive him his wife and six children.
