C. King left its earthly home and winged its way to celestial realms. "Uncle Pete", as he was lovingly called by the people of the community, had been ill for about six weeks, having been stricken a short time before Christmas with rheumatism, the only serious illness he had experienced, it is said. The funeral and burial of Mr. King Occurred Tuesday morning at 10 o;clock at the First Baptist church. Rev. Charles S. Durden, the pastor, had charge of the exercises, and was assisted by Elder S. H. Whatley, pastor Grace Primitive Baptist Church, and Reverend S.R. England, pastor Thomaston Methodist church. A beautiful service was held, splendid talks being made by ministers. The body was laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery. Mr. King was born and reared in Upson Co. He was born 83 years ago on the 9th of January. He lived about three miles West of Thomaston until about twenty-five years ago when he moved to town. 58 years ago he married Miss Carrie Grantland Brewster also a resident of Upson Co., who survives him. To this Union was born six children.
