He was a very popular and esteemed young man and The Times has been requested to publish the following tribute to him by Mrs. Augusta Lambdin of Barnesville, one of his tutors at Gordon Institute: One of the greatest joys of human existence is to watch and take part in the unfolding of a young life; one of it's keenest sorrows is to see that life cut off in its springtime. Such is the sorrow that fills our hearts today. It is a scared thing to speak in the presence of the dead. Two days ago this dear boy stood ready at a gesture or a call to comply with my slightest request; today I stand here to pay tribute to him as a student of Gordon, a member of the Junior class, the first Lieutenant of Company "A". In as much as in our daily association he did not fail me, it is a privilege to do honor for him. Death is ever a great revealer. Under its touch faults fade into oblivion and virtues shine with a brighter luster. He seemed to have just girded himself for the race of life with the goal of true manhood shining the distance. In vain do we ask "Why the tragic end ?" Although no one can answer, we believe that he has only been promoted; that his work, The Work that our Heavenly Father planned for him, will go on in a higher sphere. Mrs. Augusta Lambdin
