Martin, 60, father of Mrs. H. B. Braswell of this city, died suddenly Saturday, January 21, at his home in Barnesville. Mr. Martin had lived in Macon until 1911 when moved to Barnesville. He is survived by his widow, who before marriage was Miss Mamie Shivers of Williamson, Ga., four sons, Felton, George, John Rodgers and Jack Martin, all of Barnesville, four daughters Mrs. Homer B. Braswell, of Thomaston, Mrs. W. D. Waller, of Forsyth, Mrs. Richard B. Britt of Barnesville and Mrs. W. C. Chambers of Macon; two brothers, the Rev. J. M. Martin of Barnesville and E. D. Martin of Forsyth, and 6 grandchildren. Mr. Martin was born at Goggins, Ga., in 1873, the son of Mr. George M. Martin and Mrs. Susan Goodman Martin of Barnesville. He was also the father of Leon Martin, who lost his life in service in France during the World War and for whom the American Legion Post in Barnesville is named. Funeral Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, Barnesville, of which Mr. Martin was a member, by the Rev. Harry V. Smith, pastor and with the Rev. Lawrence Harvey of Forsyth assisting, and interment was made in Greenwood Cemetery, Barnesville.
