Mr. E. L. McGee died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jonathan Stewart, in Yatesville, Sunday, at the age of 87 years. He had been in declining health for some years having received wounds in the Civil War which impaired his physical strength. Mr. McGee's body was buried in Glenwood cemetery of this city after funeral exercises at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. W. W. Childs. The deceased was a Confederate Veteran having enlisted in Company G, 59th. Regiment of Ga. Volunteers, Anderson's Brigade, July 1, 1862 and was honorably discharged at Appomattox Court House April 19, 1865. Mr. McGee married Miss Mollie A. Butts on July 23, 1867 and she survives him along with the following children: Mrs. Henry Burson, near Thomaston; Mrs. Johnathan Stewart of Yatesville; Mrs. Walter Herin of Macon; Mrs. Gordon Wright, of Macon; Mr. D.C. McGee of Strouds; and Mr. John B. McGee, of near Thomaston. The sympathy of the people of the community is extended the bereaved relatives.
