Byron L. Broussard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Atwater died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002 at Upson Regional Medical Center. Bentley & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mother Annie Maude Davis Atwater was born in Upson County, Ga. in 1934 to Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Davis. She attended public school in Yatesville, Ga. and worked as a textile employee for many years in Thomaston and Forsyth, Ga. Mother Atwater was united in holy matrimony to Dea. Horace Atwater Sr. To this union five children were born. Larry Atwater and Phyllis Draine preceded her in death. At an early age she realized she needed a Savior. She accepted Christ and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Yatesville and later joined St. Timothy Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death. She served in all capacities. Mother Atwater raised four generations of choir members. She was a servant of God who loved mankind. She touched the lives of many, especially young people. Survivors include her loving husband, Dea. Horace Atwater Sr. of Yatesville; a son, Mr. Horace Atwater Jr. of Yatesville; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia (Stephen) Ruffin of Washington, D.C. and Mrs. Deborah (Reginald) Ellis of Capital Heights, Maryland; a grandson whom she adopted, Anthony (Elaine) Atwater of Stockbridge; a son-in-law, Rev. Jack Draine Sr. of Thomaston; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gayle Taylor Rodriquez; a sister, Mrs. Laura Wyman Andrews of Atlanta; two uncles, rev. L.C. Stalling and Mr. Jefferson Davis, both of Barnesville; five brothers- in-law, Rev. Cleophus (Diane) Atwater of Atlanta, Mr. James (Edith) Williams of Yatesville, Mr. Charles (Sarah) Williams of Thomaston and Mr. Harvey (Carol) Williams and Mr. Davis Williams, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; a special niece, Faye Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many adopted children and friends who will deeply miss her. Funeral services for Mr. E. T. BRAY, 94, of Avalon Road, were held Monday, Nov. 18, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the Pasley-Fletcher Chapel with Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Mr. Bray was a native of Crawford County, Ga. and was raised in Bishop, Ga. He had lived in Upson County since about 1940. Mr. Bray was Sheriff of Upson County from 1952 until 1972. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, LeGare and Ann Bray of Thomaston; a brother, Lawrence Bray of Austell; grandsons, Lee Bray of Thomaston and Scott Bray of Yatesville; and five great-grandchildren. James Harden 'Jimmy' Fletcher Funeral services for Mr. James Harden "Jimmy" Fletcher, 74, of Diane Drive, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Barber and Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Mr. Fletcher died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at his residence. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Fletcher was a native of Plains, Ga. and was raised in Molena. He graduated from R.E. Lee Institute in 1944. He attended Gerogia Tech and graduated from Georgia State University. Mr. Fletcher served in the U.S. Navy. He was employed in his early years as a rural mail carrier on a Molena Route. He graduated from Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science in Cincinnati, Ohio and was associated with Pasley Funeral Home. Mr. Fletcher later formed a partnership in the business and the name was changed to Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home. He became president of the firm and was also a former president of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association. He was a past president and chairman of the Board of the First Bank of Pike. Mr. Fletcher was a former scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America and received the Good Shedpherd and Silver Beaver Awards through the Flint River Council. He had been a former president of the Thomaston Lions Club and the Thomaston-Upson Chamber of Commerce. Mr. F! letcher was a member of the VFW and the Touchdown Club. As a member of TUAC, he was active in Auditorium Advocates, which was instrumental in the renovation of the R.E. Lee Auditorium. Mr. Fletcher was a member of First Baptist Church and had been chairman of the Board of Deacons and had served in Sunday School leadership for many years. He was a member of Morning Star Lodge #27, Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Fletcher served for several years as a member of the Thomaston Board of Education. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ann Pasley Fletcher of Thomaston; his daughter, Mrs. Laura Fletcher Durand of Luthersville; sons, Mr. James Pasley Fletcher and Mr. Robert Harden Fletcher, both of Thomaston; son- in-law, Mr. Russell G. Durand of Luthersville; daughters-in-law, Mrs. Jana Pressley Fletcher and Mrs. Kyle Hand Fletcher, both of Thomaston; and nine grandchildren. Mr. VanHouten was a lifelong resident of Upson County. He retired as shop foreman with the Department of Transportation after 32 years of service. He served his country in the United States Navy for four years. Mr. VanHouten was an avid fisherman and a member of Morning Star Lodge #27 F&AM. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Drew Corbett officiating. Burial followed in the Woodbury City Cemetery. Mrs. Rudder died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002 at Riverside Nursing Center. Mrs. Smith was born in Macon, Ga. in 1918 and had resided in Thomaston since 1984. She graduated from R. E. Lee Institute in 1937. She retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base in 1983 where she worked as an executive secretary. Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Oliver B. Smith and one son, Mr. Robert H. Andrews. Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Cheryl Kinsaul and Mrs. Patricia Tidwell both of Thomaston; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
