Mrs. Langford Dead

Mrs. Jim Langford died last week at her home about seven miles from Thomaston. 
She was 87 years of age and had been in bad health for a long time. About 
fifteen years ago rheumatism rendered her feet useless, and since then she has 
not walked a step. Mrs. Langford was the largest woman in Upson county. Her 
weight was something near 400 pounds, and the undertaker was unable to find a 
ready-made coffin in Thomaston or Atlanta that was wide and deep sufficient to 
hold her remains. One had to be made to order, and it was of such tremendous 
size that the men in charge could not get it in the hearse. This explains why 
the body of his estimable lady was carried to the grave on a wagon.

Mrs. Langford was a widow, her husband having died several years ago. She 
leaves a number of children, none of whom enjoy good health. Two of her 
daughters are nearly as large as she was. - Thomaston Times
