Mrs. Mary C. Johnson
Preston--Death claimed Mrs. Mary C. Johnson, age 82, of Preston, on Feb. 15 at 
her residence.  Funeral services were held on Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. from the 
Preston United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Brodess and the Rev. Warren 
Tarns officiating.  Burial was in Preston Cemetery with Hancock-Smith Funeral 
Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson was a native and life-time resident of Webster County.  She was 
born there on March 28, 1895.  She was a member of the Preston United Methodist 
Church and a member of the United Methodist Women of the Church.  She was also 
a member of the Preston Woman's Club.  She was the wife of John Mercer Johnson 
who preceded her in death in July 1962.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruby J. Drew, Mobile, Ala., four sons;  
William C. (Bill) Johnson and Robert F. ( Bob( Johnson both of Thomaston, L. J. 
(Buck) Johnson, Preston, and James Mercer (Dick) Johnson, Americus.
Her pallbarers were her gransons, Neal Johnson, Al Johnson, Rob Johnson, Jack 
Johnson, Bruce Johnson, Tommy Drew, Johnny Johnson, Barry Johnson and Jerry 
Johnson.  Fourteen granchildren and eleven great grandchildren and a number of 
nieces and nephews also survive.
