Mr. Gordy died early Friday morning, Nov. 20, 1987 at the Upson County Hospital. The Revs. Jerome Stallings and Clifford Bradshaw officiated. Burial was held in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. Pasley-Fletcher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gordy was a native of Upson County. He was supervisor of safety services at the Employee Relations Center of Thomaston Mills. Mr. Gordy was a member, deacon, Sunday School teacher and music director at Shiloh Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army from 1951-54. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patsy Gentry Gordy of Thomaston; daughter, Ms. Vicky R. Gordy of Thomaston; two sons, Mr. Benjamin W. Gordy Jr. of Thomaston and Mr. Ricky G. Gordy of Macon; mother, Mrs. Maudelle F. Gordy of Thomaston; sister, Mrs. Sonia Hughs of Atlanta; brother Mr. Haran Gordy of Atlanta. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Beulah Gentry of Thomaston also survive.
