A native of Taylor county, he had lived in Molena nine years and was a retired farmer. The funeral was held Friday, January 31, at 3:00 o'clock at the Smyrna Baptist Church in Upson County. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Cooper Locke and Rev. Bill Oglesby were the officiating ministers. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Tera Blackston Sams of Molena; five daughters, Mrs. James Brooks of Molena, Mrs. Hubert Wilson of Thomaston, Mrs. Larry Preast of Warner Robins, Mrs. Stan Watson and Mrs. John Wynn, both of Griffin, three sons, Dick Sams of Griffin, Clarence Sams and Ernest Sams, both of Thomaston; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
